Sunday, June 14: Orientation, safety training and meal at First Baptist, Old Ocean Gym

6:30 KICK OFF RALLY (PUBLIC INVITED): Bro. Pete Houpt, pastor, FBC Sweeny, will speak in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Old Ocean

JUNE 15 – 19th DAILY SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday (June 15- 19): 7:45 AM All Sweeny United students and adults meet at the Family Life Center,
First United Methodist Church, Sweeny.
Workdays will end by 3:00, unless noted below.
Note about showering and preparing for evening activities: Students who wish to return home to shower and change prior to evening activities must have parent permission to do so, and should report directly to the site of the evening activity. Students may be unable to return home to shower and change due to time or transportation constraints. Students who cannot return home will be shuttled to Sweeny Junior High to shower and will be transported to evening activities in church vans. Exception: Tuesday’s swimming trip-we will shower at recreation center.
EVENING ACTIVITIES
MONDAY: Workday ends at 3:00.

Arrive at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 5:45 for water activities and meal

Pick-up at OLPH – 7:30
·
Note: Bring a towel for water activities
TUESDAY: Workday ends at 2:00.
·
3:00 leave FUMC Family Life Center at to swim at the Lake Jackson Recreation Center. (Wear tennis shoes to use on basketball and racquetball courts. Students will shower here before evening activities.
Bring towel, toiletries, and a change of clothes.)

Note: t-shirts should be worn over bathing suits
·
5:30 Sweeny United vehicles will leave recreation center
·
Evening meal provided by the Rotary Club and held at the Backyard Park in Sweeny.
·
7:00 PM Pick up time (from Backyard Park)
WEDNESDAY: Workday ends at 3:00.

5: 00 (Tentative) arrive at First Baptist Church, Sweeny for evening meal
·
5:45 S. U. vehicles depart from FBC, Sweeny to travel to Bowl Texas in Lake Jackson
·
6:30 – 7:30 Bowling (bowling fee and shoe rental provided by Sweeny United)
·
8:15 Pick up from First United Methodist Church, Sweeny
THURSDAY: Workday ends at 3:00.

5:00: Crawfish and pizza at His Grace Assembly of God Church
·
8:00 Pick up time (from His Grace)
FRIDAY: Sweeny United ends at 12:00 noon, and there will be no evening activities.
Letter to Parents and Students
Dear Parents,
Sweeny United is a community outreach ministry for all youth within the Sweeny Independent School District. Students and adults are scheduled to work during the week of June 15th – 19th.
On June 14th, safety training and orientation will be held at First Baptist Church, Old Ocean. It is important that everyone attend.
After the Sunday evening meal at First Baptist Church, Old Ocean, students will participate in the Kick-Off Rally in the sanctuary. We hope that your family and friends will join us for the rally, led by Pete Houpt of FBC Sweeny.
Enclosed is a schedule of activities for the week. Students should report to the Family Life Center, First United Methodist Church at 7:45 each morning. Please refer to the schedule for further information.
Please remind your child to bring/wear:

Old or ”work” clothes
·
Sunscreen
·
A hat
·
Work gloves (leather or cotton)
·
Sun glasses
·
Tennis shoes (NO sandals please)
·
Water bottle or plastic cup (label with name)
Please put your name on whatever you bring and place in a bag to bring to the work site.
Note about clothing: Shirts should have some sleeve. (No bare midriff.) Pants should be at least knee length. During swimming and water activities, (non-white) t-shirts should be worn.
Re-apply sunscreen several times a day. If you wear a cap, sunscreen your ears so they won’t blister.
We hope to see you at 6:30 on June 14 for the Kick-Off rally. We look forward to a safe, successful Sweeny United Week!
